Overview

A production web platform for real-time attendance tracking, leave requests, approvals, and organisation-wide HR reporting across multiple roles. It runs on a React / Next.js front end and a .NET API backed by SQL Server, deployed in containers on managed Kubernetes.

Challenge

  1. Serve four distinct roles (employee, manager, HR, director) from one platform, each with tailored views.
  2. Provide accurate real-time check-in/out plus daily, weekly, and monthly attendance visibility.
  3. Run reliably across separate test, UAT, and production environments with secure single sign-on.

Approach

  1. Designed a layered backend (controllers → services → SQL Server stored procedures) with a consistent REST contract and SSO.
  2. Implemented role-based access mapping backend roles to tailored dashboards and approval workflows.
  3. Containerised both tiers and deployed on Kubernetes with per-environment config and a test → UAT → prod promotion path.

Outcomes

  1. Shipped to production as the organisation’s live workforce-management platform.
  2. Delivered self-service leave, manager and HR approvals, and exportable attendance reporting.
  3. Established repeatable multi-environment releases with manual approval gates.
